As a superintendent, I am committed to high academic success and appropriate social development of all students. I believe we can send all students to the high school reading at or above their grade level and expect them to graduate. My job is to also ensure student access to not only learning experiences that reflect the standards, but go beyond by offering a rich and varied curriculum as well as exemplary instruction. Learning is not mutually exclusive to the student. Teachers and staff are expected to challenge themselves to grow in their knowledge and expertise. Our vision will reflect the need to: increase student engagement in their learning, enhance teachers’ understanding of their practice, and build a climate of trust and respect for all.

To that end I believe students should expect:

  • An inviting and academically challenging school climate
  • An enthusiastic staff that seeks opportunity to stretch their imagination and challenges their thinking
  • Rigorous and relevant curriculum
  • Opportunities for self-reflection and guided improvement
  • Appropriate interventions when they struggle in attainment of goals
  • A discipline program that guides students in becoming more responsible and respectful

Parent should also expect:

  • Staff that puts children first
  • Open, honest and timely communication about student academic progress and social growth
  • Content and instruction that prepares children for future learning opportunities
  • A well-managed classroom and safe school
