New Holstein Community and Businesses,
New Holstein High School is working hard to bring a life altering program called ‘Challenge Day’ to its students. Challenge Day is a non-profit program designed to help tear down walls of separation and encourages acceptance, support, and respect among students. Youths who face emotional challenges among peers, their home, or their community learn to cope with the world and to support one another. Challenge Day has served over 1 million youth and has been recognized with a two-day feature on The Oprah Winfrey Show.
The program opens participants’ eyes to the experiences and perspectives of others. Challenge Day increases self-esteem, transforms peer pressures into peer support, and strengthens inclusiveness. In turn this creates understanding, empathy, and hope. Participants learn to truly connect with others and build a healthier community.
Students often arrive to Challenge Day closed off or fearful but leave with open hearts, a desire to create positive change, and a new view of those around them. New and sincere connections are made between participants. Ultimately, Challenge Day is about creating connection and building a positive community.
Seeing is believing. Below are three short videos to help you better understand the Challenge Day program.
Part 1: 4.5 mins
Part 2; 6:23 min.
