How Does Counseling Benefit Children in Middle School?
Children of this generation are expected to make more choices independently, at a much earlier age. Changing values, changing family structure and other complexities often interrupt a child's development. To meet the changing needs of our children, schools have utilized the skills of trained counselors. The developmental counseling program at the elementary and middle school level has three major components. They are: Individual Counseling, Classroom Counseling, Small Group Counseling .
Every child participates in classroom counseling. Children are often selected or volunteer to be in small groups. Many students have individual counseling needs and may see me occasionally or on a regular basis throughout the school year.
